美國Applied Separations(Applied Separations Inc.)
About Applied Separations, Inc.
Applied Separations was started in 1987 with the mission to provide sample preparation products to today's analytical laboratory. In the advancement of that mission, a strategic decision was made to supply both consumable products and instrumentation to this marketplace.
Applied Separations was one of the early participants in Pennsylvania's Ben Franklin Technology Partnership, located on the Lehigh University campus, an incubator program for high technology start-up companies. The company secured research grants to develop manufacturing methods to produce consistently high quality Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) chromatography sorbents. The line of consumable SPE cartridges was marketed under the trade name Spe-ed - solid phase extraction and elution device.
In 1992, Applied Separations entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop a low-cost supercritical fluid extraction instrument that overcomes many of the shortcomings of the instruments currently in the marketplace. The culmination of this effort, two years later, was the Spe-ed SFE. Two of the foremost experts in supercritical fluid extraction, Dr. Jerry King and Dr. Robert Maxwell, have lent their names to the Spe-ed SFE project. Market acceptance of the Spe-ed SFE was overwhelming. Click here for Laboratory SFE Systems
The SFE endeavor has been expanded with new models to meet the specific needs of various markets, e.g. food, natural products. Due to customer demand, in 1996 the company began to engineer larger-scale SFE systems for process manufacturing.
Applied Separations has recently added two product lines. The fast PSE and one PSE were developed to answer a need in the pressurized solvent extraction field. The PSE replaces slow traditional extraction methods, saving time, money and solvents
In addition, Applied Separations has expanded their SPE line to include Flash Chromatography products. Spe-ed Flash columns have been designed and manufactured to meet the critical needs of researchers who are using automated organic purification instruments.
In May 2001, Applied Separations received an Allentown Downtown Economic Development Achievement Award. The award is given annually to "...a corporation, partnership, or organization which has undertaken and/or completed a physical development project, such as the reuse or rehabilitation of an existing building or the construction or a new building, resulting in significant investment, job creation, and overall positive impact on the economy of the City of Allentown."
